How do I get a library card?
Library cards are free if you live or own property within the city limits of Burleson. Non-resident cards cost $25 for one year of unlimited checkouts from the Burleson Library only (single user), $50 for one year of unlimited checkouts from the Burleson Library only (family membership), or $5 for ten items from the Burleson Library only (good for 6 months).
To apply for a library card, you will need come to the library and fill out an application. Then, bring your completed application and photo ID to the circulation desk. Under 18? Be sure to bring your parent or legal guardian.
Note: If the address on your ID is not correct, you will also need to bring proof of address with you. We will accept any of the following items with your name and address: printed personal check, itility bill, first class mail, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, lease agreement, or pay stub.
How much are late fees? What about lost items?
Late fees for books, audiobooks, and magazines are 25 cents per day. Late fees for movies are $1.00 per day. If an item is lost, the patron is charged the cover price of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee.
How do I request materials from Fort Worth MetroPAC libraries?
If you live in or own property within the city limits of Burleson, you may request items from other Fort Worth MetroPAC libraries. To do so, locate the item in the online catalog, select the item by clicking on it, then click on the "Request Item" button. You will be prompted for your library card number and your PIN (usually the last 4 numbers of your library card number). Then, click on "Request". You will receive a telephone call when your materials have arrived.
Non-resident borrowers (those who pay for their library cards) are not eligible for this service.
Does the library provide Internet access?
Free Internet access is available for library card holders on 18 public access computer terminals. Each user is allowed one hour per day of computer time. If you do not have a Burleson Public Library card, you may apply for an internet-only card free of charge.
Does the library offer computer classes?
No, but computer classes are available through the Burleson Community Education program. Visit their website at http://www.ed2go.com/burly/ for more details.
Does the library rent out meeting space?
When not in use for library-sponsored events, meeting rooms are available for use by community groups that meet the library's guidelines and for purposes that are consistent with the library's mission, goals, and objectives. Meeting rooms are not available for private social gatherings, commercial purposes, religious services or ceremonies, or for the benefit of private individuals or commercial concerns. What is a TexShare card? Can I get one?
The TexShare card allows you to have direct access to library materials that aren't available at your local public library. When you present your TexShare card at participating libraries, you will receive borrowing privileges free of charge.
Burleson Public Library cardholders are eligible for TexShare cards if they have been a member of the library for at least 6 months and their account is in good standing. TexShare cards will not be issued to patrons under the age of 18. For more information, visit http://www.texshare.edu/programs/card/patroninfo.html.
